:: Tuesday, January 14, 2003 :: How is it possible that music can move a person to feel so much? Music, whether it is a piece composed by Rachmaninoff or a song performed by a new pop sensation or rap or whatever else, it moves people. Music can stir something within the human soul to make it react, even if the reaction is one of distaste. At a party, the loud bass of the speakers makes it feel as if your heart beats in time with the music. You can't escape it -- it seeps through your defenses. I bet that even those who are hearing impaired can feel the rhythm, and it touches them in a way that nothing else possibly can. Listening to music can be a moving experience, but playing an instrument or singing -- that is a powerful experience. The sounds that are produced portrays emotions of the piece and the performer. One piece/song can be performed in many different ways. Being a performer gives you the power to control how the music is rendered into the mind and soul of the listeners. It seems that when watching the World's greatest musicians, they seem to lose themselves in the music, blurring the lines between what is them and what is the music. I think it's incredible to listen to an artist who has an incredible passion that is reflected in what they are performing. They could make "Mary Had a Little Lamb" sound like a masterpiece. I've babbled enough for tonight... I'm sure I'll do it again soon...:: Sunday, January 12, 2003 :: Today... I got the wrong paycheck... and now I'm depressed because I thought I had made so much money!@#... I bet I made half of that paycheck... I'll find out tomorrow... sigh... the joys of people's blunders...
